Jennifer Breithaupt

Jennifer Breithaupt, BA(hons), LLB
Barrister & Solicitor

Having completed her Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Classical Archaeology at Queen’s University, Jennifer studied law at the University of Western Ontario and was called to the Bar in 2003. Jennifer started at a boutique litigation firm in Waterloo, gaining real-life experience that has shaped her career. In January of 2007, Jennifer opened her own practice in Kitchener and in 2013 she was appointed as child’s counsel with the Office of the Children’s Lawyer. In January of 2015, Jennifer rebranded her practice as “Breithaupt Law – Complete Legal Solutions.”

Jennifer and her team share the goal of providing every client with premium and professional service. Her team are dedicated to ensuring that every matter is handled with the utmost care and sincerity. Jennifer provides a fulsome and tailored approach with her matrimonial clients in addressing all aspects of their separation, from the Agreement itself through to estate planning and real estate services, so as to make each client’s transition from “we” to “me” flow as smoothly as possible.

Jennifer has participated in the Law Society’s New Lawyer Practice Series (now Practice Basics) since 2009. She chairs the Advocates’ Society’s annual Courthouse Series program in Kitchener, which has now expanded in Waterloo Region to include a further annual criminal litigation program, and enjoys membership in both the Advocates’ Society and the Waterloo Law Association. Since October of 2009, Jennifer has also run “Family Litigation Strategies,” an independent education series addressing matrimonial litigation issues.

Jennifer has been active in a variety of local community initiatives including the award-winning Leadership Waterloo Region and Communitech’s outreach programs for youth. Jennifer is counsel to the Homer Watson House and Gallery Foundation and is past Chair of the Arts & Culture Advisory Committee to Kitchener City Council. She and her husband are proud to raise their young son in their shared hometown.

Alyssa Noble

Alyssa Noble, BA(hons), LLB
Associate Lawyer

Alyssa received her Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Sociology with a minor in Women and Gender Studies from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2012. She studied law at the University of Ottawa, where she completed courses in a variety of areas of law, including a number of specialized family law courses. She volunteered with the University of Ottawa Association of Women and the Law and was a part of the executive team for the Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund’s Ottawa Branch. She also had the privilege of completing summer work and an internship in family law with law firms in Kitchener and Ottawa, respectively.

Desiring to return to the Kitchener-Waterloo area upon obtaining her Juris Doctor degree, Alyssa joined Breithaupt Law as an Articling Student in 2016, gaining knowledge and experience in all areas of the firm’s practice. After being called to the Bar in June, 2017, she was happy to return to Breithaupt Law as an associate lawyer, eager to continue her professional development and rewarding work assisting clients with the invaluable support and mentorship of the Breithaupt Law Team.

Alyssa is a member of the Waterloo Law Association. In her spare time, Alyssa enjoys the company of her family and friends, spoiling her dogs, and new adventures.

Daniella Baita

Daniella Baita, SSW
Law Clerk - Executive Assistant

Daniella completed her Social Services Worker Diploma from Conestoga College in 2013. Her certifications and work history before joining Breithaupt Law give her an uniquely sympathetic perspective in working with clients in crisis. She is a true self-starter, having learned all clerking areas relating to matrimonial and real estate practice, and continues to upgrade her skills in estate planning and administration.

Daniella manages all Divorce Applications for new and existing clients, and finds job satisfation in ensuring matters are dealt with as efficiently as possible for the benefit of clients and their families.

Gail Baita

Gail Baita
Law Clerk - Estates & Finance

Having spent the first 4 years of her career with 2 large law firms, Gail then gravitated to and remained with sole practitioners for the last 38 years. She has experience in every facet of a sole practitioner's practice.

Gail graduated from a private business college and successfully completed the Law Clerk's course offered by the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario through Conestoga College. She has continually upgraded her skills throughout her career.

"Gail has a saying: Old people understand old people and young people understand young people." For this reason Gail feels particularly well suited to the Estate Administration side of Jennifer's practice. She understands the legal aspects of the issues faced by people who have suddenly lost a loved one, and can truly empathize with their situation. Gail has a wonderful ability to relate to our clients as people rather than as files. This assists in forming the trust that is so important in dealing with difficult circumstances.

Jennifer "Jay" Barbosa Simon

Jennifer ("Jay") Barbosa Simon, BA
Law Clerk - Real Estate & Family

With more than 15 years of focused experience in Real Estate practice, Jay is ready to answer any questions you may have in buying or selling your home. Jay maintains our network of realtors, mortgage professionals and lender contacts to maximize the resources to which Breithaupt Law clients have access.

Jay has also gained valuable on-the-job experience in matrimonial matters, having assisted Jennifer with everything from uncontested Divorce Applications to preparations for lengthy and complex trials. Jay greatly enjoys the enthusiasm of first-time homebuyers.

James Smith

James Smith, RSE
IT & Facilities Manager

James is responsible for the IT infrastructure and electronic records management at Breithaupt Law. Using bank-level encryption, James ensures that all client files are securely stored and backed up. Physical files are scanned and shredded and/or returned to clients once the files have been completed. All computers, servers, and electronic access points are secured using the latest software to ensure client confidentiality.

Besides maintaining the IT infrastructure, James frequently files documents at the Courthouse and acts as courier to other local law firms and banks.
